Dear all, the Training hackathon for Checklist Crossmapping and Precursor
National Checklists Generation from GBIF data has been a fruitful meeting.
Participants felt that the meeting brought the right group together and was
focused and productive. The hackathon resulted in several recommendations
for improvements and new features in the GBIF API and other services.
Participants were divided in 3 groups and developed solutions for
crossmapping and normalizing checklists , annotating and 'blacklisting'
GBIF records, and for gathering evidence with GBIF and CoL data about
recent presence of a species in a country. Code has been published as open
source at https://github.com/Sp2000. Demonstrators that have a webinterface
can be found at http://134.213.149.111/group_2/ and
http://134.213.149.111/group_3/hackathon_group3/web/index.php

I hope to be able to report more at the European Nodes meeting!

Best,
Wouter Addink
