Dear Sir/ Madam,

Thank you for accepting my message (see below):

*Dear Colleagues Interested with Invasive Alien Freshwater Snails,*

The golden apple snail (one of the 100 World's Worst IAS listed in
IUCN/GISN/ISSG databases) is known in the USA as Channeled Apple Snail
(CAS). The golden apple snail (GAS) book launching will formally be on the
PhilRice Anniversary day (November 6, 2006). In this book there are three
chapters by Dr. Robert Cowie, UH, USA.

Please also see the link to the golden apple snail book at the PhilRice
website. Please note that using the acronym GAS for the Giant African Snail
is confusing. GAS is used for only Golden Apple Snail (GAS), *Pomacea
caniculata. *This freshwater snail is a major pest of wetland/paddy taro
and other aquatic plants in Hawaii and other places.
