The <font size=2>Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity

(CBD) invites Parties, other governments and relevant organizations to

submit <b>examples of best practices for addressing the risks associated

with the introduction of alien species</b> as pets, aquarium and

terrarium species, and as live bait and live food (COP decision IX/4,

paragraph 8 and 9)<br><br>

The information provided in this submission will be used by the

Secretariat to create a CBD Technical Series document and a pre-session

document for the fourteenth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Technical

and Technological Advice (SBSTTA-14).<br>

Please send best practice information, practical guidance and information

relevant tobest practices for pre-import screening of live animals to

hendrik.segers@naturalsciences.be, by 24th October 2008.<br><br>
