From Biodiversa at fondationbiodiversite.fr Thu Jul 4 19:26:46 2019 From: Biodiversa at fondationbiodiversite.fr (Biodiversa) Date: Thu, 4 Jul 2019 17:26:46 +0000 Subject: [Biodiversa] BiodivERsA - publication of an animation video and of a new policy brief Message-ID: [cid:image001.png at 01D5329E.6AA0C3C0] BiodivERsA is pleased to share with you the invitation below as well as two of our recently published products: * Animated video on the BUFFER project: following the URBES project (featured in a first animated video last year), the BUFFER project has been awarded the opportunity to present their work in an animated video as part of the BiodivERsA Prize for Excellence and Impact. This prize acknowledges the excellent, pioneering research performed in BUFFER. The project developed a new Regulation-Based Classification System for Marine Protected Areas. This system was already adopted by major international organizations as well as local management authorities. We invite you to share it in your networks! The BiodivERsA prize will be awarded on a yearly basis to showcase the achievements of BiodivERsA-funded projects that have produced excellent science with concrete impacts for policy and/or society. The Belgian Biodiversity Platform (RBINS/BelSPO) & BiodivERsA led the production of this video, along with the BUFFER project coordinator Joachim Claudet and the video production company, Squarefish. * New BiodivERsA policy brief on ?Green infrastructure within agricultural landscapes strengthens the supply of ecosystem services?. It presents how the results from the EC21C, FarmLand, ECODEAL, APPEAL, SmallFOREST and CONNECT projects provide evidence that increasing landscape diversity through green infrastructure (GI) can improve the supply of ecosystem services, looking at biocontrol and pollination, and that current EU and national agricultural policies fail to effectively support GI implementation in Member States. It further provides pathways for improving landscape heterogeneity and developing EU, national and local policies that support the development of GI and the uptake of such measures by farmers. These findings and recommendations are complementary to those presented in the brief titled ?The Common Agricultural Policy can strengthen biodiversity and ecosystem services by diversifying agricultural landscapes?. * Download the BiodivERsA brief "Green infrastructure within agricultural landscapes strengthens the supply of ecosystem services" * Download the information about competences consulted and the work procedure for this briefing The brief was drafted by the Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP), in collaboration with BiodivERsA partners and project scientists. Please feel free to further distribute this brief, and in case of any questions, please contact Frederic Lema?tre, BiodivERsA science-policy interfacing officer (frederic.lemaitre at fondationbiodiversite.fr). BiodivERsA, the European network programming and funding research on biodiversity, ecosystem services and Nature-based Solutions is pleased to invite you to the final conference of the projects funded within its joint 2015/2016 Call on ?Understanding and managing biodiversity dynamics to improve ecosystem functioning and delivery of ecosystem services in a global change context: the cases of soils and sediments, and land- river and sea-scapes (habitat connectivity, green and blue infrastructures, and naturing cities)". The final conference will be held in Brussels (Belgium) on the 12th (all day) & 13th (morning) of November 2019. During this event, you will discover the major research results and expected impacts for society and policy of the 26 funded projects (click here to download the brochure presenting these projects); it will also be an opportunity to learn more about the future research to be supported by BiodivERsA. If you are interested to attend this meeting, we kindly ask you to register to this event using the following link: https://biodiversa1.typeform.com/to/Svl7RC. Please note that registration is free, and on a first-come first-served basis (limited to 50 participants). We look forward to meeting you on this occasion, Claire Blery On behalf of the BiodivERsA network For more information on BiodivERsA, click here Follow us on twitter: @BiodivERsA3 [cid:e3160344-4c40-4167-bca8-fa3fd53bee23] -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
