[Biodiversa] Consultation on the European Partnership on Biodiversity

Dear all,

BiodivERsA and the European Commission’s DG R&I and DG ENV cordially invite your organisation to review the European co-funded Partnership ‘Rescuing Biodiversity to Safeguard Life on Earth’, and provide feedbacks through the online consultation.

In the framework of the future EU Research Framework Programme (Horizon Europe), new tools supporting the programming and funding of research will be set-up, notably a new generation of ambitious European partnerships in support of EU research and innovation (R&I) and policy objectives. One candidate Partnership is focused on biodiversity issues: “Rescuing biodiversity to safeguard life on Earth”. This partnership would help align the European R&I agenda with the national and sub-national ones. It would implement an ambitious programme contributing to the objective that by 2030, nature in Europe is back on a path of recovery, and by 2050 people are living in harmony with Nature. The Partnership will put R&I at the heart of the implementation of the EU 2030 Biodiversity Strategy<https://ec.europa.eu/info/sites/info/files/communication-annex-eu-biodiversity-strategy-2030_en.pdf> seeking to reverse biodiversity loss by increasing knowledge on biodiversity dynamics, reinforcing biodiversity monitoring across Europe, developing Nature-based Solutions and providing science support to policy.

BiodivERsA, the European Commission’s DG R&I and DG ENV have led the co-development of this European co-funded partnership on biodiversity, promoting co-construction between BiodivERsA members and new members for this Partnership, a broad range of stakeholders and collaborators, and several departments from the European Commission.

The current proposal for the European co-funded Partnership on biodiversity<https://ec.europa.eu/info/files/european-partnership-rescuing-biodiversity-safeguard-life-earth_en> is now open for an institutional consultation, aiming to retrieve feedbacks on its contents from a wider spectrum of academic and non-academic stakeholder organisations in the field, and to give the opportunity to contribute to the co-development of the biodiversity Partnership.
