Dear Cees,

Several GBIF Secretariat staff members have already sent a message to you, but I would like to send another message on behalf of my colleagues through the European Nodes mailing list.

We would like to thank you for all your years of hard work for GBIF. NLBIF with you as driver has become amongst the most active GBIF Nodes in the network. This resulted, amongst others, in vast amounts of biodiversity data publishing to GBIF, the role-out of a distributed network of IPTs within the Dutch biodiversity landscape of organizations that now includes all the major players, and in numerous contributions focused on improving and implementing the GBIF work programme. In addition, you represented the European Nodes for four years and contributed greatly to the engagement and focused collaboration in Europe.

I would like to personally thank you for your commitment and do hope that you find opportunities to continue the collaboration in a new form.

Warm regards,

Olaf

Subject: [Gbif-europe] Bye from NLBIF...

Dear European GBIF colleagues,

In an informal way I already notified some of you.... the Dutch GBIF Node, NLBIF, will face some changes in the very near future.

Because of several developments within my board the connection between NLBIF and our host institute, the University of Amsterdam, shall be terminated.
I am employed by the University of Amsterdam and my contract is ending. This is actually the right time for me to make a move and by the end of this week I’ll officially finish my position as Node Manager of NLBIF.
At this moment it is not clear who will be the new host of NLBIF or what about my succession, but I trust those matters will be solved soon.

Obviously I want to thank you all for the pleasant and good cooperation I experienced with all of you in the last decade.

It is quite a job to get the European cooperation going within GBIF but we certainly made good progress….

Wishing you all the best, keep up the good work, and do enjoy the regional meeting in Lisbon next year!

I’ll remain connected to the University of Amsterdam and can still be contacted on my UvA mail for a while, just in case.

All the best to all of you!

Greetings,

Cees
