Subject: New IPBES Call for Experts
To: "h.eggermont at biodiversity.be" <h.eggermont at biodiversity.be>
Dear colleagues,
The *Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services
(IPBES)* has launched a *new Call for Experts* to be involved in the
preparation of:
+ *The Regional Assessments on biodiversity and ecosystem services*
There are four regional and subregional assessments i) Americas region, ii)
Africa region, iii) Asia and Pacific region, iv) Europe and Central Asia
(which will also include work on *invasive alien species* and *sustainable
use of biodiversity*).
+ *The Thematic assessment of land degradation and restoration*
+ *The scoping process for the Global assessment on biodiversity and
ecosystem services*
If you would like to be considered for nomination by the Belgian government
to provide your expertise in the first holistic assessment of Biodiversity
and Ecosystem services, please see the attached document. Here, you will
find details on the assessments, individual requirements, and application
and nomination process.
The deadline for submitting the IPBES online application form is Wednesday
25 March 2015. However, applicants seeking Belgian government endorsement
are required to submit their forms to the IPBES Secretariat by *Friday 20
March 2015*. This is because it is necessary to sift the applications
before the IPBES closing date. Consequently, nominations made after 20
March 2015 will not be reviewed in time by the Belgian panel and will
therefore not be accepted. We would encourage you to submit your
application sooner if possible, to aid us in our sifting process. For any
queries in preparing nominations, the process that will be followed or on
the deliverables, please contact Dr. Hilde Eggermont (
h.eggermont at biodiversity.be) or Dr. Hans Keune (hans.keune at inbo.be). To
subscribe to our IPBES mailing list, please visit our IPBES-National Focal
Point website <http://www.biodiversity.be/ipbes> (tab Stakeholder
Registration).
With very best regards,
Hilde Eggermont
