Please find below a CBD Notification that might be of interest to you, or
to expert with whom you collaborate. Note the very short deadline (19
April!) and that the Participation form has to be endorsed by the CBD NFP

Subject: CBD Notification 2019-040 - Invasive Alien Species: Invitation to
the Online Discussion Forum

Dear Madam/Sir,

In its decision 14/11, paragraphs 5 and 13 (b), the Conference of the
Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity requested the Executive
Secretary to facilitate the work of the online forum and asked the Ad Hoc
Technical Expert Group to provide advice or develop elements of technical
guidance on management measures on invasive alien species to be implemented
by broad sectors, to facilitate achieving the Aichi Biodiversity Target 9
and beyond. Accordingly, a moderated online discussion forum will be
organized by the Secretariat, with the following timetable:

Methods for cost-benefit analysis 1 - 31 May 2019

Methods, tools, and measures for identification and minimization of risk of
e-commerce 1 - 30 June 2019

Methods, tools and strategy for invasive alien species management under
climate change and others 1 - 31 July 2019

Risk analysis on the potential consequences on social, economic and
cultural values 1- 31 August 2019

Wrap up session for synthesis of report 1 - 15 September 2019

The Secretariat would like to encourage your active participation in this
online forum. To take part in the online forum, participants are required
to submit a duly completed Participation Form, endorsed by the National
Focal Point for the Convention or Head of the Organization (forms
attached), and to send the forms to the Secretariat by e-mail at:
secretariat at cbd.int as soon as possible but no later than 19 April 2019.
Further information about the online forum is available at:

After the online forum, a meeting of the Ad Hoc Technical Expert Group on
Invasive Alien Species is tentatively planned to take place in Montreal,
Canada, in November 2019. Participants will be selected from the experts
who have actively contributed to the process of the online forum, taking
into account the terms of reference referred to in decision 14/11 (Annex
II), and in consultation with the Bureau of the Subsidiary Body for
Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice. The exact dates and venue
of the meeting will be communicated in due course.
