Dear Sir/Madam,

We are happy to inform you that the IPBES Secretariat, supported by the
task force and technical support unit on capacity-building, is launching an
IPBES Webinar Series to further strength capacities for those involved in
or wanting to learn more about the work of the platform. The first season
of the series is envisioned to consist of 10 webinars.

The first webinar is scheduled for April 7 15:00-16:00 CEST, and provides
an introduction to the IPBES assessment process. We particularly encourage
experts interested in participating in the upcoming global assessments to
take part in this webinar series. Ivar Baste, IPBES Bureau member and
co-chair of the task force on capacity-building, will present an overview
of the four stages of the assessment process (exploratory, design,
implementation, and communication and outreach), with detailed discussion
on key topics within each stage. Key topics covered will include: getting
started as an author and assessing materials; handling the review process;
identifying and accessing data and other knowledge sources; and dealing
with knowledge gaps. The webinar will conclude with a Q&A session and if
you already have questions you would like answered in relation to the IPBES
assessment process, you may submit them via email to
tsu.capacitybuilding at ipbes.net.

Recordings of the webinars will be made available on www.ipbes.net
and form a part of a collection of electronic capacity-building resources
that will become a valuable tool for building capacities in the future.

We hope that the webinars will provide a useful resource for you and your
organisation for learning about the work of IPBES, and hope to see you in
the upcoming webinars. In order for the webinar series to reach as many
viewers as possible, we ask for your assistance in forwarding notifications
on upcoming webinars through your relevant networks.

If you have any suggestions for topics you would like to know more about,
please contact the technical support unit on capacity-building:
