[Ipbes-stakeholder] Invitation BEES international WG - next monday 29/08

Belgian IPBES Stakeholder Group registration ipbes-stakeholder at bebif.be
Tue Aug 23 15:03:52 CEST 2016

Dear members of the BEES MAES working group, dear IPBES Stakeholders,

The Biodiversity platform <http://www.biodiversity.be> has been
facilitating several science-policy networks on biodiversity and ecosystem
services. These groups do not only provide information on international
research to the Belgian stakeholders, but especially provide valuable
feedback from the Belgian research, policy and practice community towards
these science and policy processes. Some examples:

   - the MAES member meetings (EU DG Environment working group on Mapping
   and Assessment of Ecosystem Services)
   - The H2020 Esmeralda project, funded by DG Research.
   - The IPBES assessments on pollination, scenarios and models, and the
   ongoing regional assessments
   - The H2020 BiodivERsA ERA-net <http://www.biodiversa.org>
   - The H2020 EKLIPSE <http://www.eklipse-mechanism.eu> (CSA)

Many of these processes have important (future) impacts, and have large
similarities in content as well as in impacted/interested stakeholders.
These processes also increasingly rely on feedback from local stakeholders
in policy, practice and science within the member states. Therefore, we
decided to merge our concurrent efforts in one *BEES International Working
On a regular basis, the BEES International WG will convene to* provide
information* on the state of affairs of international projects related to
biodiversity and ecosystem services, and to *develop common Belgian
positions* to be represented in these processes.
The WG offers the opportunity to deliver actual and diverse feedback from
within a larger community of practice, and allows Belgian participants to
engage in these international processes.

A first meeting will be held *NEXT MONDAY 29th of August, 9:00-13:00* at
Belspo, Av. Louise 231.
On the agenda for now:
