Dear colleagues,

Thanks to those that completed the doodle form for the Belgian IPBES Workshop on the Review of the Global Assessment, planned for Tues. 15th of May from 9:30am to 12:30 at the Ensor room in BELSPO. Attached below is a letter from the IPBES Secretariat for reference.

The main objectives of this meeting are to:

- Inform participants on the State-of-Play of the implementation of the IPBES Work Programme;

- Explain the outline and objective of the IPBES Global Assessment;

- Explain the timeline and some general principles related to this review,

- Collect first comments on the Second Order Draft and Summary for Policy Makers (so that these can feed into the Belgian position and for a set of related, forthcoming IPBES meetings and workshops), and

- Discuss AOB that are related to the implementation of the Work Programme, including other ongoing Calls

A detailed agenda will be circulated prior to the meeting.

In order to have access to the documents for the meeting, you will need to register, by following these steps:

1) Register as user of the IPBES website (http://www.ipbes.net/registration_global_fod <https://ipbes.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5da0fed71c7e4399fb28ab549&id=34d4dd064a&e=fe2a129752>) if you have not already done so.

2) Apply to become an IPBES external reviewer for individual chapters of the global assessment at http://www.ipbes.net/user/login?destination=registration_global_fod <https://ipbes.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5da0fed71c7e4399fb28ab549&id=dcd61d1f60&e=fe2a129752> (this will only work when logged in first as IPBES website user).

3) Once registered, you will immediately receive an email providing confidential access to the draft chapters and will be requested to submit your comments in English using a template that is available on the same webpage.

Lunch will be provided on the day of the Workshop. To estimate the number of sandwiches, I kindly invite you to reconfirm your participation by May 9th, using a doodle poll: https://doodle.com/poll/gvum4spay68pcxgr <https://doodle.com/poll/gvum4spay68pcxgr>

Should you be interested to contribute to our government review but may not be able to attend the meeting on May 15th, we encourage you to follow the steps above to register, and to send us your comments using the template.

The deadline to submit your reviewed template to j.ventocilla at biodiversity.be <mailto:j.ventocilla at biodiversity.be> is:

June 20th: For the individual chapters
June 30th: For the Summary for Policy Makers (SPM)

This will allow us to consolidate your responses by the IPBES deadlines.

Thanking you in advance for your contributions, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or comments.

Sincerely,

Jorge
